Daisuke Matsuzaka dominated striking out 10 SSB batters as the Caracas Leones
defeated the SSB SSB Tar Heels 5 to 4 at Leones Field.
Matsuzaka(2-1) earned his pay with a solid performance for Caracas. He went 6
innings surrendering 5 hits and 3 walks. For the game Caracas out-hit SSB 10
to 6.
Billy Wagner recorded his 5th save. Kenny Rogers(1-1) suffered the loss. He
allowed a few too many baserunners giving up 7 hits and 4 walks in 3 innings.
When asked about his strikeout total for the game, Matsuzaka offered, 'The
fan's really got into it. It is fun to see them tally up the strikeout
totals up there in the stands. Fortunately, I kept them busy this afternoon
- of course, it would be all for naught without the 'W'.'
